“We need to have a lot of fun doing it” – A Career Conversation with Meena Palaniappan

In this video, Meena Palaniappan discusses how she leverages technology to empower frontline communities affected by climate disasters to be environmental justice change agents. Meena is the Founder and CEO of Atma Connect, an award-winning tech non-profit building a movement for social connectedness and resilience in vulnerable communities. Speaking with Center for Climate Justice Program Manager Remy Franklin, Meena discusses the tech for good movement, how to scale up environmental justice, and how to remain positive when doing climate justice work.

If you’re interested in a career similar to Meena’s, here’s a word of advice from her interview:

“Yes, this work is going to be hard, but I don’t think it needs to be. I believe we need to have a lot of fun doing it. Sleepless nights, worrying – all of those things aren’t actually going to get us closer to where we want to go.

But having a really good time is going to make us get up and do it again and again, day after day. Find what lights you up. Find what makes you happy, and go all the way. Keep doing it.”
