“Become a good translator” – A Career Conversation with Rachel Robasciotti

In this video, Rachel Robasciotti shares how her family and community background fuel her passion for social justice investing. Rachel is the CEO and Founder of Adasina Social Capital, an investment and financial activism firm serving as a critical bridge between financial markets and social justice movements. Speaking with Center for Climate Justice Program Manager Remy Franklin, Rachel discusses how her company builds a clean index fund and the urgent need to bring our collective resources together to address racial, gender, economic, and climate injustice.

If you’re interested in a career similar to Rachel’s, here’s a word of advice from her interview:

“Unless we get social justice movements in contact with financial markets, we’re going to end up with what we’ve always had in public markets, which is money being put toward the wrong thing.

That translating work is absolutely crucial for the world that we all want to build together. I would just encourage people, don’t lean too exclusively into one or the other. Try to understand the context for both so that you can become a good translator because that’s what’s really needed in our field.”

Our Climate Justice Career Interview series helps students connect climate justice to their field of study by showcasing professionals working on equitable climate solutions across industries.
