“Be productively impatient” – A Career Conversation with Taj James

In this video, Taj James shares how his background in anthropology and community organizing led to his current work helping communities align financial value with sacred values to build wealth. Taj is a Principal with Full Spectrum Capital Partners, as well as a father, poet, strategist, designer, and Co-Founder of Movement Strategy Center. Speaking with Center for Climate Justice Program Manager Remy Franklin, he shares advice for young leaders working to support the transition from an extractive to a regenerative economy.

If you’re interested in a career similar to Taj’s, here’s a word of advice from his interview:

“Be productively impatient. Don’t wait for permission to bring forward a solution that you and others have found. Just keep moving with it. And don’t think that you have to wait until you’re at a certain stage of life to do what needs to be done.

If you’re ready, go. Pull together the people, and connect with the communities. Find the expertise to get done what needs to get done.”

Our Climate Justice Career Interview series helps students connect climate justice to their field of study by showcasing professionals working on equitable climate solutions across industries.
